For a garden all summer flowers, plant bulbs in the Spring! Begonias, Gladioli, Dahlias, Lilies, Calla Lilies, Caladiums, Cannas, Freesia, Anemone, Ferns and Novelty-type bulbs can be planted in the Spring after all danger of frost has passed. These types of bulbs generally do not tolerate cold temperatures and thrive in any area of a garden, provided it is well-drained. Spring- flowering bulbs are a great investment because in most cases they will reward the gardener with a beautiful plant or flower in a short period of time and in most locations they will provide years of enjoyment. Some varieties are winter hardy (Lilies, Freesia, Anemone) but many need to be lifted from the ground before the first frost and stored over winter.
